Worst meal experience *ever* yesterday: rubbery calamari, fritter-ish happy shrimp, noodles-and-iceberg-only spring rolls (okay, one chive but NOTHING else inside -- 70% noodles!), garlic and black pepper "stir fry" that was swimming in dishfull of watery soy broth.
Alcohol-less Urban Monk, dirty tables, S L O W service (despite the fact that we were one of only three tables there). To be fair, the server was very pleasant.
I was taking a friend from Madison, to show off our city a bit, but I hadn't been to CMT for almost a year. What's happened? I was embarrassed and won't go back. And I've been eating there for almost 9 years. Hated my entire experience yesterday. Hated it.
The best Pad Thai I've had, better than Tum Rup Thai, Sawadtee and others. After the first time eating here we had to go back within the week because it was on our mind. The person we went with also went back within the week and took more friends there. We had the vegetarian spring rolls which were decent but the pork spring rolls and egg rolls are way better. We also ordered the cashew peanuts and fried scallops appetizer. The fried scallops were the most delicious thing I have tasted at a thai restaurant. Definitely a must to try. The scallops were cooked perfectly. We ordered a variety of dishes, Penang Curry, Khao Pad, and the Grilled Chicken Chiang Mai Style but the Pad Thai was the crowd favorite. A very close second was the Khao Pad/Fried Rice Thai Style. The 2nd time I went back I had the beef Pad Thai. I would recommend the chicken, however, the beef was so tender, juicy and very well cooked so it was not bad (I just think the chicken's flavor's go better with the pad thai). Take your friends, very affordable, you'll love it.
WOW! Good, good food. :-D The panang is AMAZING but I wouldn't recommend the Pad S'Ewe. We even had the sticky rice with mangos and it, too, was awesome! (Mangos are out of season but I still ordered it anyway. :-P)
The cool part about this restaurant is that I called on a Friday night to get directions while we were driving there. We were lost as we are from out of town. The owner of the restaurant even stayed on the phone with me until we arrived at the front door. I didn't think to make reservations but he was kind enough to get us a table. After dinner, he came up to us and thanked us for coming in. As someone who used to work in the restaurant industry, this restaurant was just wonderful with us. :)
