The Jucy Lucy is a must if you are visiting Minneapolis and prefer to get off the beaten path and taste some true local food! I loved the authentic 1950's - 1960's feel of the bar...it really hasn't been updated much since except for a few flat screen TV's. The service was friendly, and you really feel like you are experiencing a slice of the 'good ole days.'

I enjoy the Juicy Lucy's from Matt's Bar, I usually pick up my food to go.YES the parking is not for the regular night out for dinner although it is a neighborhood bar so what can you expect. Small bar with more people than it can even actually fit, so service is expected to be slow. I love going to Matt's the burgers and fries are great the best I have had that are done exactly how you want it. (NOT RAW!!)

    As it has always been...

Matts Bar has been around at least as long as I can remember, and I can remember back to my first visit whan I was about 8 years old. I loved it then and I love it today. The ownership has changed, I actually believe it was the current owner that served me recently (Tall blondish man with a great attitude). Anyways point is, you still get friendly service, awesome fries, no ice, consistant product, jukebox music... I guess I don't even know if they are still 3-2 or have strong beer, I don't drink beer much. And the only TRUE home of the Jucy Lucy (note the spelling). One thing to note... Onions fried or raw, are similiar to a whitecastle onion, or the little bits of onion on a Mc D's hamburger. This is not a bad thing IMHO, its one of the components that makes it unique, and delicious. Just don't order onions expecting sliced ones...

Pay heed to hot cheese warnings... 3 words: Liquid Hot MAGMA!

Spend some time on those fries.....

If you ever have been to Matt's, rest assured, its in good hands and providing EXACTLY what you remember. For those that have not been, and live in S Minneapolis, AND like burgers... Or fries (shoestrings in a basket) some of the best in town and always cooked in fresh oil (least seems that way by the taste). Do yourself a favor and give them a visit...

PS Few other things on the menu besides yummy burgers, Ham & Cheese, Grilled Cheese, Chicken Breast um you guessed it, grilled.

Go for the Jucy Lucy, you know thats what you came for...
