| About: | Sawatdee began in 1983 as the first Thai restaurant in the five-state area. Minnesotans were intrigued by the sweet, sour, bitter and salty taste combinations found in authentic Thai cooking. Over twenty one years and seven locations later, Sawatdee has become a twin cities favorite. Each location offers slightly different menus to reflect the preferences of people in each area. |

I can't believe it won the 2009 best Thai restaurant in Minneapolis! This place doesn't even compare to the average Thai restaurant in Chicago. The Pad Thai had no flavor. The Pad See Eiw didn't have any of its signature gravy sauce. My friend requested a dish in Panang style (I think that's what it was), and they said they do that for lunch, but can't fod dinner. No explanations and doesn't even ask if they can with the kitchen, just says no. Food was bad tasting and overpriced a bit.
My husband and I were looking for a local place to go out to eat with our friends last nite and we decided to go to Sawatdee. We were seated right away and it was not very busy...which suprised us, considering it was a friday nite. There was about 5 or 6 tables with patrons.
Even though we were seated right away, no one came to our table for about 15-20 minutes. By then, we had plenty of time to look over our menu several times. So, our waitress FINALLY came! I was ready to get up and look for someone to come and help us to AT LEAST order our drinks and appetizers.
Our food didn't take too long to get to our table and it was "o.k." but nothing to bring me back there again.
Oh...once our waitress brought our food, we didn't see her again until she brought our bill.
I'm always willing to give a 2nd. chance...but it won't be any time soon!
Spicy & Delicious Thai Restaurant: Its a great restaurant for Thai cuisine lovers. They have a scale of hotness vary from 1 to 5. Dont ask above 2,unless you like tears in your eyes. The ambience is very good and offers a warm environment.
