| About: | Named for Minnesota's most well known elected official, Hubert H. Humphrey is a gathering place for fans of the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. The place is packed on game days since many fans will stop by for a pre or post-game libation or bite to eat. Those without tickets can view the game on the multiple TVs. Even on non-game days, a good crowd draws from the downtown office workers looking for a light lunch or happy hour specials. This sports bar is a memorabilia collector's dream. Grab a healthy portioned burger, sandwich or appetizer and wash it down with a pitcher of brew or soft drinks, and then head across the street to the dome. The restaurant is open late if a game is on. |

I actually liked the bar but the waitressing left a little to be desired. As I was standing in the back bar, one waitress felt the need to stiff arm me everytime she needed to get through with an order. The bar was extrememly crowded but I didn't even get an "excuse me". This experience truly soured what was a rather nice time at the establishment.
right next to the Metrodome...noisy when crowded...great burgers
Closes down too early: Great location for pre-game drinking, and the start of post-game drinking, including an outdoor bar/patio area. The only problem is the bouncers are in such a rush to leave, the bar closed down 1 hour after a Twins/Yanks game on a Friday night in Apr. 2006. It was about Midnight, and everyone was actually forced to leave...a first time for me in 12 years of going to bars!
In Aug. 2006, driving by Huberts I saw a guy down on the sidewalk, and a girl yelling at one of the bouncers. I would go back just to see if the bar closes early again.

I realize this review is old, but, it is also....well...just plain wrong. Huberts is an amazing place where fans go for pre- and post- game celebration. If you want to eat and want service, you should probably SIT AT A TABLE and not stand around the bar. People that stand in the server's way in a packed bar and don't move, probably will think that there is little left to be desired when it comes to the wait staff. This isn't a place to go if you want your server to oggle over you...this is the place to go if, like every other NORMAL sports fan, you want to pre-game. I just don't expect a server to say "excuse me" when I am blatently standing in their way in the middle of a packed bar...I would just get out of their way...but, then again, I'm polite. Hubert's is a wonderful staple when it comes to MN sports, and, if you want an authentic game experience, then, GO TO HUBERTS!!! If you want over attentive, high-maintenance, oggling service go to figgin Fridays!
