Dr Madhok passed judgement on me before she gave me an eye exam. Her certainty that her knowledge is superior to her patient's translated into a very unfriendly experience. She is a poor caregiver.
The optician Jenny was extremely friendly, personable, and helpful. She made the experience of going to Spec's partially fun.
Good design does not improve bad behavior.

Hey, cattle-prodded, both my husband and I have had very positive care from Dr. Madhok over the years. I even took my friend (who speaks very little English) to have an eye exam from her because I thought Dr. Madhok would be able to help him despite the language barrier. He also had a positive experience with her and the staff and was thrilled to be able to read easily for the first time in his life. Have you talked with Specs Optical? I am sure they would want to help you have a better experience with your eye exam.
My wife and I discovered Specs last year, and we both love the place! She went from being frustrated that she needed glasses to looking forward to finding her next pair of fun and funky frames. (She's now found eight pair and couldn't be happier to wear glasses!) I'm up to four new pair myself, and am still amazed by how many compliments I get when I'm out and about. We've traveled to quite a few different states lately, and get asked all the time "where did you get those glasses?". The only time I've seen someone else with the same pair was on a return visit to Specs, when the owner was wearing the same frames as me. Yes, they're that unique! The owner, opticians, and optometrist are all exceptional. Have you ever had an eye exam where you've been taken out on the sidewalk to see which prescription made the stop sign across the street look sharper? The opticians do a remarkable job of suggesting frames and finding styles that work well on your face. Bottom line: if you need glasses, go to Specs! (If not, go there for one of a kind sunglasses!)
