Cheers to that. Zumbro is a great neighborhood breakfast spot with a great staff who have been working together for years. I have been to a lot of places with good service, but I have been to few places like Zumbro that are truly genuine in their love for their establishment and the community-first focus which is at the heart of their success. Go to Perkins to sneak in a Yorkie or to sit for two hours after your party is done scarfing down some high fructose corn syrup pancakes.
Service Dog Issue:
I would like to start out by saying this was completely blown out of proportion. The lady in question came into the restaurant with a dog in her purse carrier. When told she could not have the dog inside she then said it was a service dog. She was asked to provide the document stating it was a service dog and then became rude and angry stating she did not have any such document. It was clear this animal was not servicing her in any way since it was just in a carrier being toted around. She then made a scene and left the restaurant and called the police who later came by and stated she had problems other places as well. I think people should not judge based on what they think happened but call the and check with the restaurant in question to see what happened. This is not something Zumbro would do to anyone and takes great pride in providing great customer service to everyone. Thanks for reading :)
These are great folks and artists running a lovely little neighborhood restaurant. The menu is reasonably creative and the food has the quality and charm of homemade; the wait staff is attentive and very personable; and the prices are reasonable (except for the side of toast)--completing the trifecta ( fourfecta?) of an excellent restaurant experience. I love meeting friends there for Sunday brunch (as do those happily waiting for tables!)
