what an awfull place to bank. you need 700 credit to get overdraft protection. customer service is horrible. employees dont stay there longer than a week. I would afoid this bank. I just switched my account to a small community bank
They could not have cared less! I had had very polite friendly professional service from tellers at this St Anthony branch (the stand-alone building, not the in-store at CUB across the street) on two occasions before the day that I walked in to open my own checking account here as this would be an excelllent location, much better than my current (non-TCF) bank. I was greeted by the man behind the desk with indifference bordering on distain. His first question when I told him I would like to talk to him about opening a checking account was "What kind?" When I said checking, he said "I know. We have several kinds. Which one?" Like I'M suppose to know TCF's products? Is it too much to ask that you volunteer to walk me through? When I asked him to tell me about the differences, he took a big breath (he still had not smiled) and told me about the one most people take and would probably be best for me... ??? I almost walked out but I had already pulled cash from an existing account elsewhere to open a similar account here... I asked more questions and managed to pull enough information from him to make a decision, or so I thought. We were way into the process when we ran into something he had 'forgot' to tell me which did not fit with what I told him I wanted/needed and we had to start over and go a different route, which made him even less happy... As we re-started, he was making certain statements and assurances about this new account I was getting, and when I asked for something in writing to support what he was telling me, he said that he did not have anything. When I asked if he could make a copy of what he had in front of him which he was reading from, he said No that that was not for the public. I asked if he could just make a copy of that part of it which clarified what we were discussing...No. He certainly did not 'Get It'. Then he went on to start to open a savings account for me, although I had never mentioned more than the checking account to him, and he tells me he HAS to open the savings in order to give me the checking account I was asking for. I said that it would be nice if the customer were told this in advance, and he agreed and said that the bank really didn't do a very good job of getting the info to the public. Really?? I was talking about YOU, Mr. Rude-and-Incompetent. I'm on the edge with this bank, and the first glitch will have me going back and closing everthing out. Hope I get a more competent 'desk sitter' for that process.
This is the worst service I have ever received. They have no idea how to answer questions and are very rude. I will be closing my account and banking elsewhere. Customer service could not get worse. Buyer beware. Worst bank and call center ever! You can never talk to a banker at the branch, only their worthless call center. Stay away from TCF!
