| About: | Jax Cafe has been serving steaks and seafood since 1933, shortly after they received the cities second liquor license after prohibition. This Minneapolis landmark has been serving Minnesotans and visitors alike for over three generations. Prime Rib, Bone in Steer Tenderloin and New York Strip steaks are menu staples. If fresh fish and seafood are your fancy you can order live Maine Lobster from their saltwater tank or net your own Rainbow Trout from their Olde World Garden stream (April-October). Be sure to ask to have your name (or guests name) imprinted on the complimentary matchbook. The dining room service is second to none. |

Anyone who thinks the food is too expensive here should just eat at Wendy's.
The food is very reasonably priced for the quality and the atmosphere.
I was just there this weekend celebrating my father-in-laws 90th birthday party â and Iâm not sure that the reviewers here went to the same restaurant as I did. Not only is this place ridiculously expensive, the food and service were TERRIBLE. Our waiter smiled almost as often as he appeared â which was never. I thought of running out for a black table cloth because I was sure he was dead. Our guest of honor had the filet, which would have been more appropriately served in Munchkinland - it was so small. It was accompanied by a tin-foil wrapped baked potato â now thatâs classy! And to think he got all of that for $35â¦â¦
Classy Reminiscence: Just had lunch at Jax today, and I can't say enough nice things. The decor is pure class, the staff greatly exceeds expectations, the food was wonderful, if slightly overpriced. I will be going back again and again, next time for dinner. If their "famous for steaks" tag line is anything close to the quality of our lunch, this will be a regular place for us to go. I highly recommend it!
