We are not normally the type of people who would complain, rather we are usually fairly laid back. This hotel is not a good value for the money. We paid $134.99 for a one queen one double deluxe room on a Saturday night. The quality of this hotel is similar to that of a Travelodge. We found the room to be dirty. The carpet was dirty, which required us to wear shoes at all times. The bathroom was dirty with hairs on the shower wall and tub. The shower water went from very hot to cold and back again with no warning. Hotel claims to have been remodeled in 2005, however, we didn't see much evidence of that. There was a lack of space in the common areas of the hotel, including the parking lot, lobby area and the breakfast area. The pool area is akward, as the "poolside" rooms are literally 3 feet from the pool, and the 3 person hot tub is in a completely separate area from the pool. This is going to sound weird, however, one of our complaints has to do with the homemade bedframes, which consisted of painted 2x6's that ran the perimeter of the box spring which all too frequently invited your toes for a nasty stub. Our stay would not have elicited such a response if it had been half the cost. Please avoid this place unless you are able to get the room for significantly less than what we paid -- it is NOT a good value.

The worst hotel stay my family and I have ever experienced. Over priced, feces on the bathroom wall, could not use shower due to shower curtain smelling of urine so badly it was difficult useing the bathroom at all. Hair on nightstand, carpet was wet all over making it so we could not go without shoes on. Beware pet owners as Red Roof inns pet policy has changed since our last stay 1 year ago. Their website claims: "Unlike other pet friendly hotels, Red Roof Inn does NOT charge extra fee's for pets or a deposit". They indeed charge $25.00 per day for 1 pet, which is not informed to the customer until check in when you can not cancel and go elsewhere without a 72 hour notice. My company will not be doing business with this chain again.

Horrible: This hotel is way over-priced for what you get. I booked a Non-Smoking King Bed Suite for 1 night, on a weeknight, and the rate was a whopping $134.99. I thought this was quite expensive for a "Ref Roof" since they normally compaire to a Motel 6 / Super 8. When I made the reservation, all I asked for was a view of the lake (Superior) and a good internet connection. I received neither. The front reception desk staff seemed rushed, and frustrated. My room was more like an ecomony King room, and not a "suite." I had a "lovely" view of the parking lot. This hotel property does not have enough parking spaces for it's guests, so I had to park in a dirt water runoff area, and just my luck, it rained. The Pool, The Hot Tub (public), the Game Room, the Sauna, and the Breakfast area all all eachin their own seperate areas scattered all over the hotel, which totally makes no sense and is very confusing and inconvienient. The entire set-up at this hotel was wrong. There are (I assume) poolside rooms, but they literally open up their door, and take 3 steps in "wham!" they fall into the pool, I mean this totally makes no sense at all. My (No-Smoking) room smelled of cigarette smoke. The bright red (awful) carpeting had stains all over it, which looked terrible. Because of the excessive / and heavy rains, I had asked to exten my check-out by 1 extra hour, and the staff acted as if I was asking for a miracle from Jesus. It was an absolutely horrible, terrible experience, staying at this putrid hotel. NEVER AGAIN !! BE WARNED. [ SEPTEMBER 2007 ]

I agree 110%. My children and I had a "non smoking " room covered in burns and it had such a bad oder and children and I woke up weezing. The staff I dealt with were air heads. We had feces on our bathroom wall which is just 1 of my many complaints. I will be writing a review any where I can to warn consumers not to waste their money and time.

i agree with you also.the front desk staff is very rude and unprofessional.if you met the manager of the hotel you would understand.no wonder why they cant keep their employees there.if this place wants to stay in business get rid of the managers and staff and start fresh.from what i unstood is that nobody likes to work there so you see why the front desk staff dont care about the guests.i would go elsewhere and stay.
