Bland and Flavorless Fare: I found that Hacienda Del Sol disappointing and fairly true to the food served in the Sonoran area of Mexico, which is quite unremarkable comparatively but makes it authentic to its region. Sonoran food is fairly bland in contrast to the other regions of Mexico. I prefer the more flavorful tastes of Mexican cooking (common to the regions below Texas and New Mexico). While HDS's chips and salsa are "adequate", they are not unique and a meal they don't make. It is a fairly standard offering in any Mexican restaurant. I've had better and I've had worse in that category (but they are after all just chips and salsa, so how bad can they get?).
The rest of the meal all pretty much tasted very similar to its plate companions, not a lot of diversity, flavor, or seasonings. Burritos and enchiladas were lacking, beans and/or rice flat, and when we asked if they had "green chile" (usually made with pork), it wasn't available and was unheard of by them.
Price per meal was high, especially if you consider what you're getting.
Overall, everything seemed to be lacking something in the taste department. I really can't recommend HDS to anyone looking for some flavorful Mexican food.
Hacienda Del Sol: HDS has the best mexican food in the Duluth area. I loved it and the staff is great can't wait to go back and have some more chips and salsa my favarate was the Burrito De Frijoles but I love the Beans. so I hope you all go and try it out.
Hacienda Del Sol: Mmmmmmmmmm what can I say, THE BEST CHIPS and green sauce - both homemade recipes on site. They have several good dishes, enchiladas, taco salads, burritos and tacos.
