User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsI have wondered for 35 years why no franchise outside of Austin. I was born in Austin and since have lived for long stretches in Mpls., San Franciscon and San Diego. I have had very good pizzas there and in NY, Italy and other pizza temples, but never has the pizza been better than George's. I for one would open a franchise in a heartbeat! (BTW, my favorite is sausage, green pepper and onion). Thank God I'll be back in Austin in late June/early July to once again taste the best pizza on earth.

I hadn't been to George's since I was 17 and was wasted on Kountry Kwencher with my friends.
I moved across the country and recently went back to Austin to visit family. Thirty years later the pizza is still the best you can get. And I was sober enough to remember it this time. :-)
