Reeds profiles customers; I have been there several times. When dressed up and looking wealthy they rush to wait on you. When in jeans and a hooded sweatshirt they won't give you the time of day...so bad that when I was standing at customer serves to get a fishing license the guy looked right at me walked off to visit with another employee and was rude when questioned about service. I came in there the next day dressed in my designer costly clothing and the same young man almost tripped over his feet to wait on me. I will never go back to a store that profiles who they wait on. I contacted the store and received no responce...shows me that what I said is true! I also had my husband and son do the same thing. Exactly the same happened to them. Shame on them...my money is a good as the next persons. I will drive the extra miles out of my way to give someone else our business from now on!
After hearing such good reports on Reeds I made a substancial purchase only to be very, very disappointed. I recieved my Vexilar, later than I expected, but thats not the is isssue at this point. The unit came to me broken. I called Reeds and was told to ship it back and a new unit would be sent as soon as they recieved it. I was told to fax the shipping charge and I would get an in store credit. I called the following Monday and was told the fax was recieved but they didn't know about the Vex. I then ordered two additional items to shipped with the new Vex. After almost a month and many phone calls each one telling me it was shipped I finally got ahold of an individual who appologized for all the delays and assured me it would ship that very day. I finally recieved the Vex but still have not gotten the additional items ordered. This whole endevoure has taken almost two months. The attitude from the lady anserwering the phone to the head of customer service is as if I was to blame for their delays and in ability to satisfy the customer. Suffice to say, Reeds will never see another dime from me.
Reeds Sporting Goods has the most knowledgeable sales associates of all stores that I've visited. They beat the big chains hands down because they employ people who fish. They pay attention to those of us who take fishing seriously, whether it be on the weekends, on vacation trips, or those of us who guide. They don't limit their knowledge to Walker-area lakes; they listen and learn from fishermen and guides who fish lakes in other states. Most importantly, they know why lures work, how they work, and why they work! And they match or beat the chain store prices! As a fisherman and guide, I recommend my family, friends, and clients to Reed's Sporting Goods. I also recommend them to my listeners on KMMO's "In the Outdoors with Brad and Brian," which is now archieved on www.myoutdoortv.com under the radio tab.
