Maddens was a horrible place to work. First of all, I told them I could not afford to work there if I do not get a lot of hours or tips. They lied to me to get me to work there and pretty much wasted my summer. I was hardly ever even on the schedule, and I always worked buffets or banquets, where you don't make tips. Worst part is, they charge guests 18% gratuity for their meals but the servers don't get that earned money unless they stay the whole season. They take your money if you do not stay the whole season, and with the amount of turnover at that place, maddens really comes out the winner there. I've been told by many people it is just a big scam many resorts do, and they call it a "bonus". Also, most of the people Maddens hires are from out of the country. I served a lot of people who were annoyed that their server couldn't speak good English. Local people know better than to work there, and if you are a college student or someone trying to make ends meet, I suggest you do not work there, they don't really care for they're employees, and pay is horrible. Of course, as soon as I complained about my hours they took me off the schedule for good. Employees really don't matter to them, I think all they wanted was that bonus money I had earned for themselves...(a.k.a tip money.)
