This airfield was frequented by famous pioneers, Amelia Earhart and Charles Lindbergh. Vintage aircraft stored in old hangars can also be viewed on a guided tour. There are several activities for nature lovers too; hiking the North 40 trail where over 180 species of birds have been recorded or biking along the abandoned airfields. There's fishing, an archery range and a model plane flying field. New York City’s largest community garden is also situated here and it's the only place where you can camp legally in the city. Less
