| About: | You know that any club featuring bands called Vomit Bomb and The Pukers on the same night probably isn't a place to take the parents. The Smell is a small, bare-bones warehouse showcasing the best of underground art and music. The club name possibly derives from the musty aroma that hangs in the air as a result of many sweaty people jammed into such limited space, or perhaps it's a reference to the less-than-glamorous location. Leave your delicate sensibilities at home and enjoy fresh talent. Shows are for all ages, so alcohol isn't on the menu but vegan snacks and tea are! |

User Rating: 5 out of 5 starsmy kind of dive: ever since Al's Bar closed, i have no where to go to listen to cool underground music, in a cool setting. most rock joints are too cleaned up. i am an old school punk. i go back to the days of the Masque. the Smell is the closest to to that spirit, and it is close to0 me, i can get there and back on the bus. i live in boyle heights. the price is cheap, all ages are welcome. there is no booze, so the violence is not there. i can go to the anacrchy library for that. i like the music, and even though the poeple that runit are rude to me (they think i am some old fart, when in fact yes i am, but i use to be an underground star myself back in the 70's)
