This is the worst service over priced pizza in Chiago. This branch has the rudest people and never gt the order right. I mean 22 bucks for a medium pizza is way over priced.
Edwardo's has a great staff and decent food. It's the first Chicago Deep Dish experience for me. I don't know if I'm a biased New Yorker but I don't think I'll ever love the stuff. Not a knock on the restaurant though.
What we ate:
- Deep Dish Pizza with Spinach. The award winning one.
- Antipasto
How was it?
- I don't know if it's all Chicago deep dish, but putting the sauce on the top really keeps the cheese fresh. You can really taste the chunks of mozzarella on top of the doughy crust. Somewhere in there was spinach but honestly, I didn't really taste it.
- The Antipasto was a couple of cold cuts over a salad. Not really a tasting experience.
Great things...
- The staff was so nice. Besides my hotel concierge, they were the first exposure I had to Mid-Westerners. Grace and I were the only two people in the restaurant and two of the waiters came to the table each time they were taking orders or serving us. At first it's a little eery having two people waiting on you in a pizza parlor, but you know they had the best intentions.
- You're going to be full after eating here.
Buts...
- I didn't really know what to think about the lay out of the place. It was kind of decorated like a neighboorhood pizza parlor but the interior doesn't feel too inviting. A couple came in later and sat next to the window. They talked about scientific theories. Not exactly the conversations I'm used to at the pizza parlor.
- Didn't find out till after we ordered it, but the deep dish takes 30 minutes to prepare!!! That's why we ordered the uninspiring antipasto. If a waiter told me a pizza took 30 minutes in New York, that thing's not getting ordered. Scary that's the signature dish.
Would I do it again?
Sure, it's decent food and the people are nice. Chicago deep dish needs further examination before I can write it off. Shout out to Dave the waiter! Hope I left enough tip!
Great Service: Ambiance is a little cold, but the food and service made up for what it lacked.
