Best place by far on the beach!!!! Mussels are the best I've ever had and they had some great specials too!
Definately ASK and TRUST your server on what you order here!
Never had a bad meal here and the servers I've had are always friendly!

PS Try the stuffed grouer, its excellant!

Hello, We just returned from dinner at the Conch Republic - Saturday around 6:30pm 5 July 2008. We've eaten there in previous years and really enjoyed the food. I must say this time around the food was still great, but the environment was exceptionally poor for a family meal together. This was related to how very, very loud the place was (everyone trying to shout to be heard over top of the ridiculously loud music) and was certainly related to how many customers they were trying to pack in. There were several tables of families squeezed together in the bar area, right next to very loud tables of young partiers - I have no beef with the partiers, but people visiting a bar to party up really shouldn't be seated right next to families trying to have a regular meal.

After receiving numerous complaints about the noise level from the various tables, including our own, the manager finally agreed to turn the music down a little - less than 10minutes later, the music was louder than it had been. The manager was very defensive about the noise level asserting that this was a 'beach bar and grill' and that everyone expected loud music. This seems very contrary to the advertised idea of a family restaurant!

We had several miscommunications with our server - basically, he could not hear what we were saying to him so brought the wrong food in one case and brought the kids' food early, contrary to instructions. All in all, the server did a pretty good job compensating for the fact that he couldn't f'ing hear his customers.

Oh, did I mention that the chairs felt like 1st grade school desk chairs - wayyyyy too small!

But, the food was in fact fantastic. Perhaps the place would be better on a week night or mid-afternoon.
