This is a great little mexican place with great food. Their mole is great and the atmosphere is very fun and festive. There margaritas are good as well. I would eat here again.
This is my favorite hispanic restaurant in Orlando. It is mexican dishes but since I have travelled around the country, I have found that mexican is defined in many ways. This is a mexican fusion with cuban and Carribean. There is a sporadic quality here sometimes. The food is always good but the service gets bad when it is busy. Go on a slow time and you will find tasty food and friendly faces.
This experience had its ups and downs, it's high and low points. This was our first time at Maria Bonita. It took a couple of minutes for someone to show up at the hostess stand. She took us first to a table and then very easily escorted us to a booth when asked to do so. Several staff members shared in taking care of us, taking our drink orders, bringing the drinks, taking our meal order etc. Each one was nice. The corn chips were very nicely done and had an unusually good corn flavor. I really liked them. The salsa was watery but quickly perked up when we added some of the pepper sauce on the table. It was not very hot, but was very flavorful. We ordered guacamole which was getting a little old when it was brought to us as evidenced by it's darker color, particularly around the edges. One of our party ordered Sangria and although I am not much of a drinker, I did taste it and it was very good. The carne asada was fair, edible, but not wonderful. The bistec emanazado was "excellent" (I believe this is my friend's favorite food item wherever he gets it). My veggie fajita's were not wonderful. They had a sweet taste about them that I did not like. The beans rice and veggies accompanying them were fine. We did order an appetizer of tostones with cheese, veggies and chicken with the chicken on the side. They were WONDERFUL. When I return to this restaurant I will order this item as my meal. We tried the Cafe con leche which was a little light but very good. The flan was quite tasty with an intensely satisfying flavor. We enjoyed the singer/guitar player who wandered around the restaurant. Although there are restaurants I like better, this was a very adequate meal served by friendly people and a good experience overall. We would return to the restaurant occasionally.
