I have now started planning my departure time for the drive to the coast to be sure and be in Mathis around lunch time so that we can have lunch at Smoliks. It's rare to find a BBQ place that has really good meats and really good sides also. Plus the place is clean and has a nice atmosphere. Don't forget to check out their smoked meat case on your way out. They have some really good jerkey and sausage.

I'm originally from Texas (now from Ohio)...Wife and I took a vacation in Sept.'03 I had bragged about Texas bbq especially brisket and We happen to stumble into Smoliks enroute to S.A.Food was just as I remembered it to be 30 yrs ago...My wife from Ohio could not believe the "Great Taste"WE loved the old Roy Rogers ol'Cowboy style motive that Complimented the great food"Real Bar-b-que cooked on real wood...and great service...We cannot wait 'til we visit Alice and CC again and stop at Smoliks...This time we'll bring all our friends from around the area...Greg & Pam Garcia We rate it tops!!!
