I am a regular at Le Chardonnay,
I cannot get enough of this place!
Great place to dine even solo! Anyday of the week! Le Chardonnay is a great French bistro style restaurant!
Start with the Duck Confi cigars: a delicious pastry wrap of duck meat and herbs,
It will surely open your appetite wide!
Then move to the salad nicoise: made with grilled fresh tuna on the top of a mixture of baby greens..
For the entrée’, you have to try the Dieppoise at some point: made with paperdelli pasta, cognac cream sauce and plenty of seafood including crab claws,
Tiramissu or crème brulee are the best way to top your evening they are both typically good!
Le Chardonnay is everything you would expect from a higher end resto and comparable to your corner bistro in Paris. Work your way around the wines by the glass or dive into a bottle from the well rounded wine list. No complaints about this place other than not availing myself of its charms frequently enough.
    I love this place!

This place definitely deserves thumbs up!!! Madison has a lot of nice restaurant, but this one definitely beats all of them. I was impressed with the intelligent mix of French and Mediterranean cuisines, a lot of the receipies are unique to this place. I have not even seen them in french restaurants in Chicago or New York. The Duck Confit cigars are my favorite and consist of rolls of duck meat mixed with vegetables served with a colorful pinkish sauce and greens.. just plain delicious!! Bouillabaisse is nothing like anyone i've tried before.. The place is small and very friendly, pretty decor with exotic mosaics and beautiful woodwork. Wait staff well trained and punctual! Would definitely go back to Le Chardonnay over and over again whenever i visit from Chicago!!!

Restaurant unlike no other!: We were at Le Chardonnay after hearing about it in the Wisconsin State Journal review last sunday. Everything they said about this place in the review is so true. This is truly a restaurant unlike no other in Madison! It's authentically operated by Tunisian Chef who is making incredibly delcious dishes. Everyone in our table had a savory dish. We had Lamb au four, chicken veronique, beef bourginion and bouillabaisse. Everything a kick of spices that gave it a distinguishable taste. Le Chardonnay offers a special dining experience reminiscent of some of the places we visited in Southern France. Food is of 5 stars quality for very reasonable prices. This is the best place for a romantic date for students who have a limited budget and want to have a fine dining experience. Service was excellent, well trained servers. This place which apparently does not advertise much, has been open since 2003.
