I was given two gift certificates prior to their fire while on active duty in the Marines in 2004. Returning to civilian life in 2009 I wished to redeem the gift certificates that I had been given some time earlier and when I called to inquire whether or not that these would be honored, I was told yes. So we traveled to Lake Orion for dinner. We enjoyed sub-par to par food depending on the dinner guest but worthwhile bar drinks. When I presented the gift certificates to the waitress she informed me that they no longer honored any certificated that were sold prior to the fire as their computer systems would have difficulty processing them. The manager on duty was even less helpful.
This was ultimately disappointing to say the least. I do know that they are recommended for their fare, but as Lake Orion (to the best of my knowledge, I have been gone for a little bit) has no other âauthenticâ Mexican fare it would seem slightly biased. The food was simply fair at best. I would not have waited 45 minutes for this level of service an d cuisine again.
Not authentic mexican food, but tasty.
They missed a few details, a carrot top in my rice, gristle in my chicken chimichanga, and my chile rellenos was not hot in the center and the cheese was hard. I think that means they cook the poblanos earlier and just dump a pepper tomato sauce to reheat... not a smart move.
Lack of focus on their part. Won't be coming back.
I love this place and it's the best Mexican restaurant in Michigan that I have ever been too! You get a lot of food (FRESH FOOD) always hot for cheap without the cheap taste! I guarantee you will need a to go box! Everyone I have taken there they get hooked! It is a great atmosphere and the servers are nice. If you drink don't ever order a Purple Rain! Even manager Melvin agrees! Every time I go in he catches me and says no purple rain today? Yeah it gets crowded, not a lot of room for people to wait but that must say something right? I promise when you get your food you will be overwhelmed at the quantity and then you take a bite and you know your in a good place! Make sure you say hi to Melvin! Best Waiter/Manager I have ever witnessed. If you don't like it go somewhere else! Just means you don't know what real mexican food taste like! Maybe you should just go to Taco Bell!
