This is a great place for a quick, yummy, reasonably priced meal. Despite several recent health code violations, you can rest assured that there's not too much to worry about because the food turns over quickly. The cheese enchiladas and the chicken mole made me sick on two seperate occasions, yet I've eaten there at least once a month over the past 20 yrs. so I tend to avoid those selections these days. Do realize that the guacamole is probably the worst if you've evern known "real guac". However, if you like the watered-down version of limited advacado then you're in luck. The salsa is excellent although you should bring some hand sanatizer: the bottles it's kept in on the tables as well as the menus have a lot of handprints on them usually (and soap is sparse in the bathrooms). Also, id you're a vegitarian, I'm not sure the beans are animal-free. Depending on the day, the rice and beans can range from good to amazing and the chips/tortillas/shells always served are fresh and warm. By the way, the margaritas are served here 'on the rocks' only. If you want to bring young children along, just know that they're likely to breathe in cigarette remanants; there's few ways to avoid it--they seem to treat the kids well to make up for the smoke inhalation. Everything is offered to go for an extra $0.05 for carryout to cover extra costs. Bringing home tostadas are tricky since they soften en route so it's always best to eat in and enjoy the Tejano music in the primary bar area or Telemundo in the back. Cheers!

NOT TRUE -- it seems like there are people out there (maybe one person?) holding a grudge against this restaurant and writing scathing reviews which are complete aberrations. As all the comments below on the other negative review show, 99% of Conejito's customers have a great experience. Just LOOK at the review above with a spelling error every few lines -- can you believe it?

All in all the above review was a mix of positives and negatives. An individual that indicates they have eaten here for the past 20 years and is honestly telling you the good experiences and the bad. I see this as a good review. As far as spelling errors, so what? Typos happen. Since when does grammar or spelling matter when it comes to someones opinion?
Thanks Lupita for an honest opinion.
A great no frills place to get good Mexican food. I suggest the chicken mole, guacamole, and one of their margaritas. This place is awesome and the real deal, La Perla is a joke.
