Oh please,
The people who give this place a positive rating are living in the past. Possibly the Cookhouse served food fit to eat years in the memories of locals but I have given this restaurant 3 trys due to is reputation. Nothing about the food tells you to eat it or come back. Save your money and stay away. The only reason to go there is to see some of the old photos hanging around that tell us inlander's what the true girth of the giant Redwoods was.
We have eaten at the Cookhouse everytime we have been through Eureka on a trip. We absolutely love it. The food is good, the service is great, and the atmostphere is the best. We look forward to going through Eureka just so we can have a meal there.
This is one of the most interesting places. The history is great, but beyond that -- the food is very good. I love to bake bread and their's is probably the best homemade bread that I have ever had. When we were there for lunch it was fried chicken. Very -- very good !!! And the baked beans were also wonderful. This was our first time there and we plan on coming back. Want to try breakfast.
