| About: | This is the kind of place your grandparents lovedand probably still visit. Owned by ex-Mayor Richard Riordan, it is open 24 hours a day and has not closed since 1924. The doors don't even have locks! Breakfast, lunch or dinner will more than fill your tank for a very reasonable charge. For dinner, the steaks are juicy and come with steamed veggies and potatoes. The eclectic crowd leans more toward the working stiff, but everyone is welcome here. |

User Rating: 2 out of 5 starsI used to love the Pantry and went often back in the 80s and 90s. I moved away 2001 and didn't get the chance to go back until 2008. I was shocked at how much Riordan had raised the prices. They had always been so fair and reasonable. More shocking was that when I went back a few weeks later, the prices had gone up again. The food was pretty much as I remembered it, but in my opinion, Riordan has gotten greedy and taken away the fair and reasonable prices. For that reason, we won't be going back.
As a footnote, we also went back to another favorite restaurant, El Tepeyac, after that long absence, and while the prices had risen, they were much more in line than the Pantry's. We will definitely be revisiting them whenever we return to the area.
User Rating: 1 out of 5 starsWas very disappointed with the place, I have lived in LA for years and never had a chance to go, but finally went and was VERY!!! disappointed, the food was not that great and the service sucked. Was a one time exprience that wont be repeated.

Really great breakfast food!!! The food isnt spectacular but its simple and good. People line up to get into this place and It is also very popular because it never closes. Just a quick tip - cash only!
