Jefferson Diner

This may have been a one off evening, but unfortunately in the restaurant business, you often only get one chance. This was one of the worst meals I've had in a restaurant in a long time. If it weren't for the "Voted #1" tattooed on everything from the menu, the waiters' uniforms, and the billboards, I wouldn't bother saying how awful the food was.

I went in there with my two children after a hike. We were hungry and had anything but high expectations. No one has EVER accused me of being a picky eater. My son's Mac and Cheese was a soup. It's almost as if they forgot to drain it. How on Earth can you screw up Mac and Cheese? My daughter had a burger off the kid's menu, and I off the regular menu. Both were cooked with awful meat, dripping in grease. The fries were barely eatable. I'm all for the grease, but this was to the point of lunacy. I ate a rack of spare ribs the day before, so I'm not shy at all around fatty meats.

The service was good, and the atmosphere pleasant. But I'm there to eat, and if you call yourself the best, and you serve slop like that, you ain't worth much in my book. If the prices had been lower than perhaps I wouldn't have been so disappointed. $6 for Mac and Cheese that even my son, the human Mac and Cheese vacuum, couldn't eat, is a rip off. One star and I will never return.

Ever since the Jefferson Diner was on Food Network, the food has gone downhill while the prices have gone up. I used to go to this diner a lot. Now I will never go there again after this last trip earlier today. I met a friend there. She got Lobster Bisque soup & a Hamburger Parmigiana platter with fries, she wanted waffle fries, so the charged extra and I got a cheeseburger. No fries, no nothing. That with 2 sodas cost $27.50. $27.50????? This is a diner in New Jersey!! This is not some place in lower Manhattan!!!!!!!!!

The hamburgers were thick, but they were horrible.

My recommendation..........go to Wendys or McDonalds right down the road. You'll get the same stomach ache, but at least it won't cost more than $25 bucks.

This Diner...: ...Is my absloute favorite! They have the best burgers with the largest selection I have ever seen! All the of the food is great! And the staff is very friendly and efficient!
