I got a dog from Holliston Meadows in March of 2008. They were not sure of the exact breed/mix or age, but they told us that up front and were very honest with us. I have to say that he is the best dog I have ever owned and I have had quite a few. He is loveable and great with kids. He was well taken care of before we adopted him and was a happy puppy. I would adopt from them again and I have recommended them many times.
Tbey called to check up on us a few days after the adoption, since I had 2 children (age 4 and 5 at the time) plus, they new I babysat for many other children.
They are wonderful!!
We adopted a dog from Holliston Meadows last weekend (Saturday the 17th). It was a boxer mix who appeared very friendly, but 15 minutes after we arrived home with the dog he attacked my 4 year old boy. I had to physically pull the dog off my son to stop the attack.
After calling 911, we immediately called the Holliston Meadows facility to let them know what happened. My husband explained that the dog we adopted an hour before just attacked our son and inflicted puncture wounds in his neck along with scrapes and scratches on his neck, chest and back.
Suprisingly, we never received a call back from them that day. The following Sunday morning, my husband called again to follow up on the incident. He spoke to someone who told him a manager would call him back but nobody ever called.
It is now Monday morning and still no communication from the Holliston facility. We called again and finally got through to a manager who needed to do some more research before speaking with us!
As a decent human being, I am shocked and appauled at the lack of professionalism demostrated by Holliston Meadows in dealing with this situation. They portray themselves as a premier posh pet facility when in fact they just want to profit from dogs ending up in unfortunate circumstances. They don't care about the animals or the customers they are ripping off.
Their adoption fees are higher than any non-profit organization ($400) who rely soley on donations to stay in operation. Supposedly this hefty fee covers the cost of obedience training, boarding, and temperment testing to match the dogs with the best possible homes. I'm not sure how this aggresive behavior was missed if they properly conducted these 'evaluations'.
If you are looking to adopt a dog, stay FAR AWAY from Holliston Meadows. You will get more than you bargained for, like a potentially deadly situation.
The claims that dogs sit around all day in the kennel are untrue. Everytime I've been there a group of dogs is outside in the yard. Also, if you read the article about the sick puppies you will see that that was the fault of the supplier of the puppies, not of Holliston Meadows
