I am so thankful that this clinic is in operation. Our family dog was attacked by a stray pit bull. Our baby was torn to shreds and we really had no hope that she would survive. Our children crying and our own distress led us on an emergency rush to I-20 Animal Medical Center. No real hope but just lost despair of wanting to try to do anything possible to save her. We called on the way and when we arrived they were waiting for us- ready to begin working on our baby. The girl ran out to our car and cradled her in her arms keeping us from having to lift her. Blood was every where and I apologized to the girl because her uniform was covered in blood and she only said not to worry- that their only concern was taking care of her and getting our baby to the ICU. I was crying, my children were crying- even my husband had huge tears in his eyes. They took us to a room offered us drinks and the nurse tried to calm our children with coloring books and encouraging words. He told them that the doctor was very good, trained in emergency medicine and was working very hard to save her... that he had gone back there and told the doctor how important our baby was to us and that she understood and would do everything possible to save her. They had the doctor and three nurses working on her and he would keep us apprised of any developments. We were there for several hours while they worked on her. I would say they checked on us and gave us updates at least every 30 minutes and sometimes more often. finally they were done and she was still alive. I could not beleive they had stabalized her. The poor baby was covered in wounds, her hair all shaved off, and tubes ( to drain fluid) stuck out all over her body. She looked so pitiful but she was alive and if nothing else we had done everything possible and my children had a moment with her to say good-bye. We were in the ICU for about 20 minutes with her and the staff was very supportive and tried to explain things and comfort us. The doctor talked with us and told us she had a good chance that we had to hospitalize her and get through the next 48 hours or so and we'd have a better idea of her prognosis, but that she was strong and handle the surgery well-- they said she was a fighter and that made us feel good. We left her there for the next three days- visiting regularly and calling for updates. they even called to let us know how she was doing. Amazingly enough our baby is at home- right now she is playing in the back yard with the kids.. running and barking. Her hair is almost back and she is fully recovered- with her battle scars- of course. As for the cost? I was pleasantly surprised for all the hours involved in her care and the blood products (they keep dog blood products there) and the way they treated us-- I was sure it would be an extensive bill. It was very reasonable and I do not understand how anyone could say anything negative about this place--- they save our babies... it costs to have good care and to me and my family it was more than worth every penny--- mostly i could tell everyone there cared deeply-- they cried with us when we were worried-- the nurse said it hurt so bad when things like this happen to family pets and she was happy to be part of a place that saves them.. I guess that sums up the place--- I am so thankful for them-- we are now regular clients we will go for regular checkups and shots-- when we go in they know us... Thank you

All I can say is that the doctors and staff suck. The place smells horrible, dog's have pooped on the floor and all they did was pick it up and not clean it. How nasty is that. I took my cat on a weekend and Dr. Arbuckle was the Dr. who say my cat. Took x-rays and couldn't find anything wrong. $302.80 no diagnosis. Cat got worse and took her on Sunday for blood work $150.00 and still no diagnosis. Was told thought that there was no obvious masses. Took her to regular vet with a copy of xrays and my vet was under the assumption of abdominal pain just like Dr. Arbuckle, but my vet noticed a tumor between her lungs. Dr. Arbuckle had no idea how to read the xrays properly, because if she did know what she was doing, then she wuld have seen the tumor just as my vet did. I would not have had blood work to find out what was wrong had Dr. Arbuckle known what she was doing and told me there was something wrong with her lungs. They offer procedures and test in the name of helping your animal get better, when it really is all about helping fatten their bank account. I tried to get a refund from them and I spoke with Kim who poked around to calling me back, so finally a month later I spoke to Susan, who defended the business without a doubt, and would not give me a refund for the blood work that I would never had done had Dr. Arbuckle known what she was doing and spotted the tumor, but she didn't because she didn't know what she was doing. They will fight for their money and will not admit that Dr.Arbuckle made a mistake. I am sure for legality purposes. Remember this is a teaching hopital and not all vet there have experience and therefore are using your animals like lab test animals with out fulling knowing what to do. My cat has cancer and went with out detection on their part and wanted me to submit to an ultrasound that is VERY expensive and if they didn't find anything there then you would be out the money. And Susan also said that to determine what kind of tumor it is then they would have to cut her open and remove it or asperate it. Sounds like a test lab to me.....Money Money Money..makes I-20 very greedy even at the cost of your pocket and pets life.

DON'T GO THERE...YOU WILL BE SORRY.

Do you know where we can report this place it sickens me how callous these people are. We were told that if we couldnt pay the ER fee upfront they would turn us away and they paperwork asks for all your info but blood type so its not like they cant send you a bill or send it to collections or something if you refuse to pay

I took my puppy to this clinic today because he was very sick. He had been throwing up, had diarrhea, and would not eat. When we got to the hospital they took him into the back immediately. When we saw the vet she said that he was doing better than he had been when we first brought him. She gave us hope! She wanted to run tests on him n they came out negative but she said that she was still going to treat it for parvo, even though it came out negative! She threw in another treatment as well "just in case". The nurse hurried into the room and made me signed the release form asap. And when we got our puppy he was practically DEAD, he was not breathing!!! I cannot get that image out of my head. He was in my arms motionless, after they had just told us he was doing better!!! We told the nurse n she took him to the back n the vet came back out and said that he wasnt going to make it. Not even five ninutes later he was dead.... All this vet did was tried to get as much money as possible. Even though the puppy didnt make it we still had to pay close to $400. I wouldnt have mind the cost IF the puppy had made it. When she was telling us he died she even mentioned that when we had first brought him, that he was too far along to help him!! Why couldnt she say that at the beginning??? They just put my puppy through more suffering by doing all those tests. This people are heartless. I cant believe there are people like this, how can they live with themselves. I was horrified by their treatment. ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS MONEY!!!!!

I DO NOT RECCOMEND TAKING YOUR PET THERE!!!!!

I totally agree with you. I am sorry for the loss. The doctors and staff are horrible there. These doctors give good doctors a bad name.

I agree and am sorry for your loss too. I posted a comment also, apparently this place has 2 different listings. There need to be more 24 ER vets around so this isnt the only place available i believe that is one reason why they get away with this highway robbery
