Have been wanting to try this restaurant out for a while (parking lot always full) & finally did. What a huge waste of money. The appetizer menu was extremely limited. The "ceaser salad" was oil & vinegar with some fresh grated cheese on top. The lettuce was also not fresh and when pointed out, it was immediately deducted from the check. The steak was abt the same cut I would buy in a local supermarket. I think that the worst part was the smell of mold in the room. From what I saw, there were 2/3 rooms in this place & the room we were seated in smelled of mold/dampness. Wait staff was very unknowlegeable abt 2 different questions. My 1st ?: what kind of steak is this one (she didn't know) and 2nd ?: what kind of sauce was put on food & she did not know. Better food at one of the bigger chains e.g. Longhorns etc. Save your $$. Thumbs down on this one.
The food is just ok, nothing special. But it is way over priced. I agree, as the owner expanded the number of restaurants, his restaurants lost quality. I visit the Concord location recently and just as we sat down was asked if I wanted some water I said sure and the next thing I know she brings a bottle of water with a spring loaded flip off cover - reusable, not sealed and charges us $ 4.00 ! It appears they fill these bottles in their kitchen and then wash and refill ! The food came luke warm and a smaller portion that I had before. No I would not return and would definitely not recommend this place at the prices they charge. If you do go however, forget their so-called bottled water it is not worth the price and they fill it on premises.
I live in Concord but I also remember when Alex Ray opened his first "Comon Man" in Ashland. He has been remarkably successful. But I must say as his business has grown to include many locations throughout the state the quality once relied on at the old Ashland place is missing from his larger operation. What was once a place for a special occasion ain't so special anymore. The food is so so--except the price it's WOW--holy smokes expensive now for what it is.
Nevertheless no one can dispute that Alex gives a great deal back to the community or that his creative spirit in admirable. Too bad the quality of what he serves up has suffered in the process.
