Looked at a car on a saturday, Went the following day (sunday) to purchase the car and no one had any idea why it had a sold sign on it. I accepted that it was sold and started looking again. While at the dealership on Sunday, the sales manager Bill Gasson insulted my younger sister who was with me at the time. She is 15 and left crying. Salesman/dealer called me everyday during the week. ON Monday, GM jack Clegg called and said he was sorry and he would "make things right" ON Wednesday General manager called me and said the car was for sale again. I went down AGAIN to negotiate. Sales manager was rude and lied to my dad about the Document fees. My Dad said that they go to the dealer and Bill Gasson was very rude about saying that they went to the state. He insisted that they go to the state of RI, when questioned about it multiple times, he keep insisting on that fact. Finally, when it was obvious there was a problem the GM came out and stated that the document fees do in fact go to the dealer. My dad was very upset that Bill Gasson lied to him about the fees. However, Bill made it clear that it was our fault even though he flat out lied and the general manager made it clear that he was lying to us.
Now Friday comes and I called the salesman I was working with and told him I would pay the fee because I really wanted the car. After 6 days of them calling me and having me come in and negotiate and having at least 4 different people calling me from the dealership and wondering the staues was of the situation, I was mentally exhausted and could not deal with the situation. When the dealership called me, no one knew what was going on. On Friday, I called and Bill Gasson (who lied about the fees and insulted my younger sister) called and said that they refused my offer and did not want to sell me the car because "of the anger" while negotiating. Now, If I remember correctly, I was lied to and jerked around for 6 days. If the sales manager can not handle negotiating a price with a consumer than I think it is time for a career change. And for all of the time and energy spent wasted on this car, it was not worth it to me anyway.
Perhaps the icing on the cake was when the salesman I was working with called me Friday evening to see how my conversation went with Bill Gasson 7 hours earlier. He had NO idea that Bill had told me that he refused my offer and to take my money elsewhere. No communication! The salesman was upset and had no idea that Bill Gasson had refused my money and lost a sale. Obviously, not a great work enviornment if the sales mamager and salesman do not talk to each other within 7 hours after my phone call.
Now, I live and work in East providence and was referred to the dealership. Needless to say, I will NEVER buy a car from them.
I feel like I was MORE than patient with almost a week of phone calls, lies, and mistreatment.
Every question I had about the car and price was dismissed and treated me like I was unintelligent, straying away from actually answering the question, like I wouldnt notice. Apparently, they found that rude. I will not apologize for wanting to negotiate because that is how the car business is.
I feel as though I was completely mistreated and after reading multiple dealer reviews, I now know that I am not the only one who feels this way.
Sales people and even the manager makes you feel like an idiot. They try to talk fast and pretend you are getting a deal but in reality they are trying to screw you over. Luckily I caught on and didn't buy from them. Do not recommend!! Buyer Beware!!
Poor sales department. They often lie and will talk down to you. Do not recommend it!
