Yep, I was one more victim of the overbook, and ended up driving away, after more than an hour wait, in a massive safety hazard.
They gave me a car that was so badly out of align that I could barely steer it, with half bald tires, and it didn't lock. I asked if the comprehensive insurance I bought covered the theft to the vehicle since I was unable to lock it...of course not.
I turned it in the next day. U-save charged me for the full rental period and a non-disclosed, non-contracted "deposit", and I still await the credit to come through. Net result so far is that the safety hazard cost me more than $250 a day!
The worst experience of my life. I can’t believe these people have the audacity to call themselves an actual business. While booking I looked for reviews about U-Save and found very bad ones, yet I had the courtesy to give them the benefit of the doubt, which was a vast mistake on my behalf. Once I got to my destination, Orlando, I had to wait at the airport for over 45 minutes. Two phone calls later they decided to stop playing games and pick me and my family up. When we got to the site of rental, we loaded up the car and found that the back of all the seats were carved out. I went back in to tell them about this and they simply told me that they don’t record small mishaps in the car, even though those holes in the seats were no where near small. Driving off the lot, the car made funny noises. It wasn’t even safe due to the fact that the engine would smoke at random times. They should have inspected the car before handing it to the next client. The people who work there are also very RUDE! After coming home I tried calling corporate and contact the manager of the site I rented and no one would give me the time of day to say what was on my mind. I was doing it in order to make sure no one else would have to deal with what I dealt with.
Please this is a warning and a word of advice from first-hand experience, do anything to avoid this company. Looking back I would have rather have spent $400 more on a car from a different rental company.
STAY AWAY if you want to avoid being stranded at the Orlando, FL airport!!! This company advertises very low rates, but will overbook, which is why they don't charge upfront. You don't know you don't have a car until you call for a pickup from the airport and they tell you they ran out of cars. They calmly direct you to another rental company at the airport that will charge you double the price like if they'll pay the difference! Forget calling the "corporate headquarters" to complain, no one calls you back nor can do anything about it! I should have followed my first instinct when I read some of the bad reviews, but I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt. U-Save lots of aggravation if you stay away from this company!!
