Located in a restored 1870s building that formerly housed a general store, Miss Sipp's Catfish Saloon offers a relaxed country setting that suits the menu. Come here for the fried catfishit is lightly breaded with flour and cornmeal and is served with slightly sweet coleslaw, hush puppies and pickle relish. You do not just get a tiny plastic cup of tartar sauce hereit is brought to the table in a squeeze bottle. The service is friendly, the accents are Southern, and refills on the iced tea are free.
One of the best places we have eaten while in the Memphis area. Their pig and fish (BBQ and fried catfish) for $10.50 was a lot of great food on the plate. Fish is unreal! Son loved the kid's cheese burger (which was 2 nice size burgers for kids) for $5 including a side and the drink. The brownie w/ ice cream topped it off nicely.
We intend to be regulars...plus 10% military discount!
Where did the younger man go that bought MissSipps a earlier in the year? We made plans with MissSipps because of him! Since he is not around the place is awful! The ladies that run it now have no sense of urgency, nor are they professional. We felt like we were at a retirement home. The food was cold and had no tasted. The previous owner made sure the details and service over all were present everytime he was their. The girls play to much and don't have anyone pushing them to do better, IT SHOWS! We will not be back and neither will my family or friends. We are local to Millington and hate to see such a great place run so poorly.
I was just sorting thru the comments of the restaurant. Glad to know that many have enjoyed the visit as well as the food. To the shut down comment. We will be back in business around the 8th of July. We unfortunately had to close down due to new ownership/original ownership issues. Come to realize that our original owners will be back along with a new owner. We are looking to bring back all your favorite sides, such as our fried corn and all your favorite delighful sandwishes in our original menu. We apologize for the inconvenience the unexpected caused any of you. We hope to see you back shortly. Enjoy your visit when you do come to eat with us!!
