As a newbie to this town, I had the fabulous time of trying to find the perfect little gem of an apartment - trying to dodge a couple brokers who charge exorbitant fees for showing you the worst places to rent possible. I am a huge pet person and needed a place that would allow me to have my dog Ruby and cat Cici. By chance, I happened upon from John Laidley from Boardwalk Properties. Jon said they had the largest pet database in all of Boston which was just what I needed. Not only was he well-dressed, (he was wearing a black suit) but he showed me only really nice places that fell across the full range (highest and lowest) of our budget, and then charged us a very low brokers' fee. Highly efficient, very friendly and amicable, John worked till 11pm on the night we put in our offer to ensure that we got the apartment off the market and kept in constant contact with us during the financial / legal part of the deal.
He showed me places in all the Boston area, such as Cambridge by Central Square near the T stop and the Starbucks, East Cambridge near the Charlestown side, a building that he says he managed in Jamaica Plain or Brookline (can't remember we looked at about 9 places) and then one in Brighton. I'd highly recommend Boardwalk and John's services to anyone looking to rent an apartment without the hassle involved in actual pavement pounding. John did a great job finding us a pet friendly apartment in the Boston area.
Renting a property should be easy. But it wasnât for me until I called Veto at boardwalk. Some realtors donât give a damn about what you want or what youâre looking for. They look at how much youâre willing to spend and thatâs it. Veto didnât seem to mind that I was looking for a studio. He even smiled as he took me out to properties! Something other realtors didnât really care about!
Veto understood the fact that I was a student and that my parents had limited funds to help me with rent. He was empathetic and only showed me places within my price range. I donât know how he was able to find so many properties, but I saw so many studios that day that I was the one tired of driving around, Veto didnât seem to mind at all!
After not settling for anything that first day, veto patiently asked me to go home and check out their different websites, allstonpads.com, brightonpads.com etc., and see if anything would catch my attention.
The following day, again with a smile on his face, he drove me around until I found a place I loved. I was then stunned when he picked up the phone and said this landlord was his friend and that he might be able to negotiate something for me. The landlord not only agreed to pay most of the fee, he shaved $25 off the rent!! (which for me is a small fortune)
Boardwalk and Veto made renting an apartment an easy experience. THANK YOU!
I own a three family building on Mission Hill. I have always been very proud of managing my own property because I want my apartments and my tenants to be in good hands. I decided to look for a property manager when my wife convinced me to retire to Florida. I spoke with the owner of Boardwalk Properties, Demetrious, and he was the only one who made me comfortable enough with the idea of someone managing my property. He insisted that his was the best company in the city to manage properties and that they excelled in keeping the units well kept, clean and not vacant. I decided to give them a shot, as nobody else seemed so experienced.
Iâve been in Florida for six months now and the heat is the only thing making my head hot. My tenants seem to be very happy and my property, I have to admit, is better now than when it was in my own hands. The property is well taken care of and I am so very glad instead of dealing with all the issues, someone just lets me know it was taken care of. Thanks again guys.
