I have been eating at Ala Thai for years. I have introduced friends and family to Ala Thai and they all love it. Crazy Noodles and Panang Curry is my fav. I have tried Lek's Panang and I was so disappointed. It's sucked. Ala Thai is the BEST place for Thai curry!!! I'm always at the one on Atlanta Hwy! As a matter of fact my lunch is Crazy Noodles which I'm about to pick up right now from Ann St!
I have been dinning at this place since I first discovered it late last year. Recently moving due to the military, I was quite happy with my discovery of Ala Thai in Montgomery AL.
I had been wanting to introduce this place to a friend of mine. Finally I was able to bring her, along with her family.
She inquired with our waitress whether they had alcohol. Our waitress said they did not have a liquor license. We then inquired a second time when we noticed a table across the way being served alcoholic beverages. This time, it was a second waitress serving on us, that told us she would have to get back to us. She left and about a minute later, she came back and told us, "No, no alcohol". We pointed out the other customers being severed, and she quickly walked away. Finally, a person working there that had not been serving us, came up to our table and asked us what he could help us with.
I decided to confront the supervisor (our first waitress), who told us they did not have a liquor license. I told her exactly how I felt about our service, and being lied to.
She then said that they did not have a liquor license, and drinks were complimentary.
You need a liquor license to serve alcohol whether it's complimentary or not. It was clearly discrimination and the disrespect that followed it was astounding.
Great Thai Food: Do you like Thai food? If so, you will love Ala-Thai! You will find some of the best tasting Thai food in Montgomery at Ala-Thai.
They feature items from the very spicy range down things that simply taste great.
Of course, you cannot go wrong with Pad Thai. Their spring rolls are always exceptional and Tom Kha Soup is something you will want to order every time you go to Ala-Thai.
Expect to pay a little more than you would for most Asian foods, but expect much more when it comes to taste.

my name is of concern when you upset the name i worked so hard to bring up. i ran that place for my family for many years, you've only been going there for a year. what do you really know about Ala Thai? ask any die hard long term fan since the early millenium who i am and how successful that restaurant is. this place was nominated one of the worlds greatest Thai cuisine. look i personally think your opinion shouldn't really count, you don't know the history nor seem how it is to be in a striving family owned business. i get upset when the servers don't explain their situation, it's really B.Y.O.B. so gets your facts straight before you go on the Internet and down such a legend as Ala Thai. yours truly, the guy who helped bring authentic Thai cuisine to Montgomery with style.
By the way how was the food?
I personally love AlaThai!!! The food is great and for me, I am willing to pay the price for what they serve. As for the drinks, I do know it's complimentary wine. But if alcolhol decides your restaurants, you might want to go to a bar.
