Don't go to Naples Aamco: My transmission on my 2000 Mitsubishi Montero Sport was slipping so I took it to this Aamco for an estimate. They called me after the first day and said they would have to remove the transmission to diagnose the problem. It would be $625 to remove it and reinstall it. I gave the OK and they called me back the next day. They told me it would cost $4800 to repair the transmission and that included lthe $625 previously quoted. I told them that the car was not worth that much and for them to reinstall the transmission, I will pay the $625 and deal with the slippage. After a few phone conversations back and forth, they decided they would do the work for around $1200, including the $625. I said OK. When I picked up the car, the speedometer did not work and the shift lever did not shift correctly. I took the car back, they fixed those problems. The next morning, there was trans fluid under my car in the garage. I have taken the car back to repair the leak three additional times, one of which the speedometer again ceased to function. The trans still leaks and they have now told me to take the car to another Aamco because they can't fix it. It seems as if no one ther knows anything about transmissions.
