I eat regularly at Terrapin's Red Bistro for lunch. They make the best burger around, you can pile all sorts of toppings, I usually get goat cheese, bacon & the horseradish steak sauce, yum! In fact, I pretty much know the Red Bistro menu by heart, great salads like the goat cheese wanton and arugula or the out of this world endive, blue cheese & candied walnuts, yum. Other faves on the Red Bistro menu include the duck quesadilla, chicken satay, fish tacos and the gnocci. If you havenât stopped in there for lunch, you should!
Last night, I finally had dinner in the main dining room of Terrapin. What a treat. My friend and I went a little overboard and had four courses. We started with tapas, the calamari knocked our socks off. I usually never eat squid, yeah, Iâm one of those foodies that doesnât eat âeverythingâ. The macadamia nut batter was so crispy and tasty, Iâve never tried anything quite like it. We also got the veggie pot stickers, endive salad and wedge of the duck quesadilla in tapas portions. As foodies, we were elated to be able to order tapas size dishes and get to try that many more flavors. We followed that up with the gnocci with duck liver and mushrooms, wow! Rich and tasty, so glad we shared.
For our main course, I had the signature wasabi crusted tuna, it was a party on the plate. I absolutely loved it! And my friend ordered hanger steak, I must confess, I usually donât really like this cut of meat, but Terrapinâs version was melt in your mouth delicious.
To conclude our meal, we decided to go all out and order tapas sized portions of desserts including the baklavah, lemon cake & peanut butter truffle torte. Thereâs a new dessert chef, and sheâs definitely shaking things up. Each of these delightful conclusions to our meal were really fantastic.
My wife and I have the pleasre of dining here about once a month (for many years now), and we always find it to be one of the most consistent and exquisite restaurants in the Hudson Valley!
