I have eaten at JHenrys several times in the last 6 months. I usually come around 7:30 or 8:00. I like to set up in the bar. I patroned JHenrys one Tuesday about 2 weeks ago. My food was great until the bar tender came and asked if I need anything. I asked if she had been outside, and she said yes why, I went on to tell her she smelled like smoke. The lady did not know what to say she seemed a little shocked. I told her I was finished with my meal that I tought this was smoke free restaurant, she replied it was but on her breaks she can smoke if she wishes. I had barley finished half of my meal and did not wish to finish the rest. She did ask if I wanted the rest boxed I just replied no. She did comp my food. I have eaten at JHenrys since this, and it was great I do not ask to sit in the bar, I now request to sit away from the bar. I am not writing this to say that the food was bad nor was my service up until "she came back from her break". It was 7:30 in the evening could she not have waited to take a smoke until her shift was over. It is strictly my opinion but I do not like smelling smoke while I am eating.
Pretty good restraunt. Great fried green tomatoes, and the absolute BEST fried mushrooms anywhere. They are known for their salmon, especially for their salmon salad.
We found the "J Henry experience" to be a delightful one. The atmosphere and the food was great. The Griffin drinking water leaves a bit to be desired and has a sewer taste That's just my opinion. This being no fault of the restaurants. However, our waiter(Tyler), insisted on bringing me some bottled water at his expense. He proved himself to be a gentleman in everyway and very personable.
I had the grilled Salmon and my date the smothered chicken. They both were delicious.
I ordered their Key Lime Pie for desert. Wow!Very rich but oh so good!
I think you'll find J Henry's a great place to dine. Their sign is hard to see...just look for all the cars across the street from the
Rite-Aid Drug Store on West College Street. W. College Street is a couple of blocks behind the First Baptist Church in the main part Of Griffin.
Being that the water was bad and the sign hard to find I started to give J Henry's a four star rating. However, considering our accomendating waiter, their reputation, and all the other satisfied customers, I sincerely give it a five.
Try it, I think you'll find your "J Henry Experience" to be delightful as well.
