| About: | Buz and Ned's Real Barbecue opened its doors in April 1992 as a roadside food stand, and has been a Richmond tradition ever since. Founded on an old family recipe and the time-honored, traditional methods of 100% wood-fired cooking, Buz and Ned's BBQ distinguishes itself with a hybrid sauce that combines attributes from some of the country's most famous BBQ regions. Buz received national acclaim in summer 2007 when featured on chef, restaurateur and TV personality Bobby Flay's cook-off program, "Throwdown with Bobby Flay." During the challenge, Flay and Buz prepared ribs for students and judges on the University of Richmond campus. If you're thinking of hosting a BBQ in your own backyard, call Buz; the staff at Buz and Ned's Real Barbecue will prepare, deliver, set-up, serve and even clean up at your event of any size party, in any place, at any time. |

Have visited there a couple of times, both times have enjoyed it a great deal, second time I visited brought my wife, and she was also thrilled. Think the food is great, and the staff is a lot of fun to talk to. I will be going back again soon!
Not worth a drive. Tomato based BBQ in VA! That should be a felony, and it's not really a good tomato base. They are obviusly filled with a false sense of pride about their product, since they have priced themselves above all the other BBQ joints in the RIC area. The problem there is that all the other places (except Famous Dave's) have better BBQ, and most actually have some form of wait service.
Highly over rated and expensive. Owner Buz was there walking around and I must admit, although friendly, he is quite full of himself. It seemed he loved to watch himself on the TV inside that played a loop of a show that featured him with Bobby Flay. I'm not saying the food is bad, it is overpriced for the portion size. The counter help was very curt. Buz went on and on about Texas brisket, but I have been to Texas many times. I guess if Richmond has no other smoked brisket it can be considered very good. If it were in Texas he would be another average BBQ joint.
