We have been going to the Back Porch for 18 years and always looked forward to it when vacationing in Destin. But they must have changed management. We have been there twice this year and will never return. The first time we overlooked the quality of service and food( everyone can have a bad day). But when we went in July it was even worse. The margaritas were awful, one member of our party ordered a hamburger that was served so burnt that it couldn't be eaten., The twice baked potatoes tasted like they were from the previous week. The grouper had been cooked so long that it was hard and dry. The service was pathetic. Everything has gone downhill in the past year. Will never return.
The Back Porch is one of those places everyone should go to once.Good food. Great ambience & service. Love the beach front location as evening falls. Plan ahead, prepare to wait a bit and have a margarita. One drawback is some limited options for handicapped folks.
We just got back from Destin and were so excited to go to The Back Porch, a place we'd heard many great things about. Needless to say, we were greatly disapointed. We went at night and it was as dark as a cave in there! We could barely see the menu. Our food was cold when it arrived and I'm talking stone cold. I ordered chargrilled Amberjack with a lobster cream sauce that was supposed to be on top but for some reason, came on the side. It was cold and congealed. Yuck. Our dinner was well over $80 because we were part of a large party and that really irritates me because we saw our waitress exactly twice. Overpriced, bland food that seems to cater to tourists but we got nothing special. Go inland and look for local favorites, like Callahans (behind Crispy Creme) and you'll do much better!
