The food is really lousy. Although the staff is really friendly, the service is really bad. I've been to Sam Sneads 3 times now and each time it gets worse. Go ahead and golf, but head some where else for food.
No more Aloha for the Kamaainas (local people): The food is good, the ambiance is great, but the service is horrible. Our waitress was not friendly. They were not busy, but yet out of Prime Rib, Steak knives, steak sauce and rolls. And that was at 6:45 p.m. It is very difficult to cut steak with a butterknife. I'm sure their must be marks in my plate.
I felt like she was saving these items for the Military families. If you are a local you may not be treated the same. I was disappointed because we were celebrating a special occasion. If you're lucky you may get good service.
Nice place, good food, lousy service: This place is on the second floor of the Navy Marine golf course cluhouse overlooking the 1st and 18th holes. There's a large lanai for outside dining and an air conditioned inside area as well. Sam Snead memorabilia is everywhere. If you are a Snead fan, you'll want to have a look at the club house. The golf club is not on a base, so you can get at it without hassle. The food is decent and reasonably priced. The bar is a bit loud and noise spills out over the dining area so that its kind of annoying if that's not what you came for.
Service is painfully slow. Waiters dissappear for the longest times and then when they reappear, their hair is on fire trying to deliver food or taking payment. Forget refills. They have a couple of passable wine selections, but lots of beer choices, This is a Navy club after all, Someone in your party will have to have a military or DoD civilian ID card. Collared shirts required for men.
