Metropol is a tiny restaurant in a converted old house. You will almost certainly need reservations though they did manage to squeeze us in the first time my wife and I walked in. There is no parking, so unless there's street parking available park in the parking structure across the street (the lot next to Metropol is not theirs and you will be towed.) The food is excellent and though pricey by Lexington standards (entrees are generally $20 to $30) it is very reasonably priced for the quality. The menu varies but they usually serve a dish called duck two ways which I recommend. The only think I ever had that I wasn't thrilled with was the hen. Appetizers are small, sized for just one or maybe two people at the most. The atmosphere is very nice. Around a dozen tables have been placed in three rooms of the house and it makes for a very cozy atmosphere. However, because the rooms are small it can get a little too loud if other parties are being noisy. The service is very friendly and very helpful. They have the good sense to assume that you know what you're doing and don't immediately try to teach you what everything is as if you're some yokel who's never been to a nice restaurant before, but if they sense you're drifting in to new territory they are immediately helpful and friendly and not condescending. For dessert get the chocolate bread pudding. It is to die for.
