Great service! Always enjoy the staff. The food is great and the spices really add a great flavor to the food. Not the most kid friendly, but most of downtown gears to adults. Definately enjoy going there.

Service was excellent and the food was very very good. The curry sauce was light and delicious. The decor was stylish and had a nice uptown feel. No children's menu, which was a setback, and no real kid-friendly options like sesame chicken, but I recommend Downtown Thai.

Absolutely the Best Thai in Winston-Salem: Quite possibly the best Thai food in North Carolina! I enjoy this place everytime I eat there and every dish I have enjoyed has been outstanding. A bit pricier than the other thai places in town but far, far better food. The staff is always welcoming and treat me like a family member.

I recommend dinner reservations as this place fills up fast especially on the weekends - it only seats about 50 people inside.

They have a good selection of beers, a decent wine list, and cocktails, but no full time bartender so keep your drink requests simple on those nights when the wait staff is making the drinks. When there is a bartender, try the Downtown Martini (a variation on the Cosmopolitan), the Downtown Margarita (their version of the uptown), or the Mai Thai (sic).

Here are my favorites:
Noodles: Pad Khee Mao, spicy and yummy. Pad Thai (but of course), mild
Stir Fry (with rice): Pad Kra Prao, spicy basil
Curry: Kaeng Khaio Wan (green curry)
Specials: Catfish or trout (both are great) with Ginger sauce, oh my!
Salad: Som Tam, young papaya and carrots with tomato
Soup: Tom Yam, spicy and the best ever.
Apps: Po Pia Sod: fresh rolls with peanut sauce
Dessert: Coconut Custard - homemade and plenty to share.

People complain about parking downtown, but I've never had to walk more than 3 blocks even on busy nights.

If you go, don't mind the wait...you will NOT be disappointed.

I LOVE this place! You will too.
