After going to another chiropractor for years, I realized I needed a more aggressive approach to deal with chronic sciatica that had morphed into acute pain, severely limiting my functional movement. I chose Dr. Craig Weismantel because his office was close to my house and took my insurance, but what a fortuitous choice! After suffering with this horrible pain every moment for more than six months, I finally got serious relief from my treatment at Eastern Pa. Chiropractic. The doc's friendly and casual manner immediately put me at ease, and his open and direct discussion of my condition -- including an explanation in understandable terms of what was going on with my spine, and how it affected everything else in my body -- built a lot of trust and confidence in his work. I will admit that after the first adjustment, the pain was temporarily worse, but he told me that's what would happen because my body had been out of whack for so long and needed time to adjust. But after that, it got gradually better as I made frequent visits and did my exercises faithfully. I think one of the best things about this practice is that physical rehab using all kinds of machines and workout equipment is an integral part of treatment. I also like that Dr. Craig gives you the straight stuff about being responsible for the health of your own spine. He makes it clear that if you're not willing to take care of yourself and commit to keeping up with your exercises, the adjustments he does will only ever be temporary. It's an honest message a lot of folks don't want to hear, because it involves work and commitment on their part. But it's the truth, and my spine (and all the rest of me that's affected) feels better than it has in years. I only regret that I waited so long to change doctors, because it's taking me a lot longer to get back to full spinal health since I was so long out of whack. The message that your spine's health is so integral to the rest of your well-being runs through everything Dr. Craig tells you, without sounding preachy, but it's up to you how well you're going to end up, and you get that message loud and clear. If you're looking for a gentle, low-touch chiro who's going to coddle you, Dr. Craig isn't your guy. But if your condition requires some vigorous (NOT painful) adjustments from a professional who tells it like it is, you won't find anyone better. I really feel like he gave me my life back. And his assistant, Amanda, is a certified massage therapist who really knows what she's doing, as well as making you feel comfortable and cared for. All in all, Eastern Pennsylvania Chiropractic is a great health and wellness experience.
