Recently went to Miller's for a late dinner following a show. Logistics of time and distance ruled out our two favorite restaurants so we decided to give Miller's a try.
I honestly hope that our experience was atypical, but it really was dismal.
The hostess was without life. It was so cold inside that we would have needed long-sleeves to eat inside, so we wound up outside. The tables were dirty and we waited for them to be cleaned. As non-smokers, the smokers standing around talking (people affiliated with the restaurant based on the conversations) and chain smoking put an immediate damper on the night.
Our waitresses (one training another) had a hard time managing both inside and outside tables and we paid the price. When the waitress set down my tea, she spilled a huge amount of it on the table linens and my napkin. She did not apologize, bring anything to clean up the mess or replace the napkin. When she FINALLY came back to bring the bread, I asked if she had something to clean up the mess...tick tock...she returns with a WAD (not neatly folded, but a WAD) of bathroom paper towels and plops them on the table. I kid you not (and this is not a cheap eats place). Tone of the meal was set by now and we really should have left. Being tired and hungry, we did not.
We gave up on breathing clean air and getting good service but remained hopeful for the meal. Disappointment again. To be fair, if we didn't know there were other really good restaurants in the area, we might have cut the meal some slack. But, we still wouldn't have returned.
Note: we chose cajun dishes. The recipes of south Louisiana vary from region to region and the people of each region usually favor the flavor of the dishes they are used to...these were not what we are used to or enjoy.
Based on my experience of our little town, I think most people would have no problem enjoying a meal here, if they don't object to the prices.
I hate that this sounds so bad, beacause I know every restaurant, it's cooks, owners, bartenders, hostesses, and waitstaff have bad nights. Unfortunately for us, it was a perfect dining storm to the point where we wouldn't go back for another try unless our tried and true places were closed.
I think you should give it a try and hope your experience is better than ours.
May 27th, That was the best food I ever ate.WOW Who is that cute Chef that walks the tables and checks on the customers.
The food is VERY good. Not outrageously priced but not cheap either. A great place to take a date or for an anniversary. Try the jambabalaya. Really quite good.

Dear Love a Good Meal, Thank you for taking the time to review our restaurant. As you might exspect my wife and I are dissapointed that your vist was not oustanding in all areas. I see you like Gabes, we do to. I have four restraunts in two states and don't get out to eat as musch as I like but when we do we have ejoyed Gabes as well. My wife and I are from Ponchotula and Hammond so it is very dissapointing that you didn't care for our food and service. We pride our selves on both. Our cuisine is creole much more than cajun and we do a lot of eurepeon style cooking (hence new orlens cafe). I would LOVE to buy you dinner if you would be willing to give us another shot. It would be our pleasure. Please give me a call when ever you see this message at Millers 770-830-8535. We have just hired a new chief executive chef who was preveiosly at the capital city club in atlanta and anthonys before that. Our new menu should be out on june 16. All our beef is cut in house and our seafood arives daily. We are also bringing in alot of food from local farmers. Please give us another try on Me.
