At first glance on the inside, Back Porch seems like a typical bar/tavern, but it has a real down home feel that makes you comfortable.
The first time, I went there with some friends from work for lunch. I was expecting typical bar food that would be adequate but nothing special.
I was very surprised to find that the food is anything but typical. It is extremely good, and appears to be made in house and generally not pre-packaged.
The chicken-fried steak is a pleasant surprise, not made from a frozen pre-breaded beef patty like many bars, but was a real honest-to-goodness chicken-fried steak. The crispy onion rings are also a treat.
I have been two more times since that first visit, and even liked it well enough to take my wife and kids.
I highly recommend "The Back Porch". You should try it yourself so you can be surprised by how great the food is.
My brother and I went there a couple of years ago, and we saw the Andrew Jones Band (they were called Brookhaven back then), the place was really cool, a little crowded, but cool. I will go back again sometime.
The Back Porch is a great place to come relax with friends, listen to great music and just have fun. The food is all homemade and I would highly recommend the BBQ. They smoke briskets daily and make their own sauce. The owners are well connected and do a lot for the community. Very friendly and caring with great service!

The brisket at the Back Porch is one of the best kept secrets around. It is really good.
