User Rating: 2 out of 5 starsReceived a flyer in mail for a $4.99 beef combo, which included a small fry and drink. Arrived at the restaurant, the coupon is good for only ONE combo, fine. Once the manager rings up two orders, the total came to $18.00+ dollars! WHAT! Are you kidding me??!I made him go back through the order because I figure one order should come to, at the most $6.00. I didn't have enough cash in my wallet for that amount! We drop the cheese off my daughter's fries and add another 10% off coupon, VOLLA! The new total is $15.40, which forces me to charge my order, instead of paying cash like I intended to do. The dining area was quaint, but, the floors were sticky. The kind of sticky you thought was found only in movie theaters. Why was the floor sticky? There was no self-serve soda counter? Yucky! I waited the alloted time I should wait for an order. When I get to the counter, it is littered with receipts, and credit card transaction, including mine, ticket #47, total $15.40, for the whole world to see. Yes, I was able to read the total of the customer ahead of me who charged $30.00 to their Mastercard. Hmmmm. This was my first time ever visiting an Al's Beef resturant and I'm sad to say this will be my last!
I ordered a Reg Als with Provolne and sweet peppers with an EZ dip. I wanted the Au Jus on the side because I didn't want super soggy bread when I got home. No luck Chuck! Soggy City! The beef was actually tender and well seasoned. The cheese I paid extra for was hard to find on my sandwich. The fries were very good they were warm, not hot. No, I do not agree with Esquire Magazine's "The Best Sandwich in America!" I've had better! Perhaps they were referring to the food served at the Taylor Street location? The Sauk Trail location sucks!-

This is the Best Beef I've Ever eaten .....the place was very clean the new owners are extremely nice
