"THERE'S A HERO INSIDE EVERY FIREHOUSE!": Firehouse Subs is recognized as one of the fastest growing private companies in Florida. We couldnât help but notice that they are popping up all over. They are spreading like âwildfireâ so to speak. They are currently located in Florida, Georgia, Arkansas, and South Carolina with more states planned.
When we walked through the door the employees looked up and said in unison, âWelcome to Firehouseâ. We walked up to the line and placed our order and they said that they would bring it out as soon as it was done. We filled up our cups with Pepsi from the self-serve hydrant.
They crack me up with all of the puns that they use such as âFeed the Fireâ or âStop, Drop, and Roll into a Firehouse.â
We commented on how interesting the dining area was arranged. The eating area had tables with Dalmatian print tabletops. There was a lot of things painted red and there was an assortment of fire apparel scattered around. Were only seated for a couple of minutes when the warm sandwiches came out.
I had the medium New York Steamer Combo which was a good serving size of corned beef brisket, pastrami, and provolone cheese. The sandwich was warmed but was still soft. It was served with a medium beverage and a bag of chips for $6.29 which I thought was a fair price. The meat was extremely tender and had a lot of flavor. If you want it with lettuce and tomato youâll need to specify that you want it âfully involvedâ.
My friend Kevin had a large (1/2 pound) American-LaFrance Sub which was roast beef, onions, and bell peppers simmered in Au Jus with melted Provolone cheese which came to $8.57 with a beverage and bag of chips. Kevin said that the meat was really tender and juicy, everything was fresh. The only disappointment was that the sandwich was overstuffed and a lot of the sandwich oozed out and became very messy. Oh Darn! LOL!
They have a nice selection of warm subs which are topped with a generous amount of Provolone or Monterey Jack cheese. The meat choices are smoked turkey, Virginia ham, pastrami, corned beef, roast beef, or Italian meatball.
They also have old fashioned sandwiches in the $4 range which come with your choice of meat, cheese, and bread. They offer white, wheat, rye, or a Kaiser roll.
I noticed kids really liked Firehouse Subs. They each get a little red fire hat which they were really excited about. The kidâs menu had a lot of choices to choose from for just $2.99 such as: turkey, ham, roast beef, grilled cheese, or peanut butter.
There were a lot of people working behind the counter and they all seemed to know what they were doing. I thought the service and the speed was a lot better than other fast food chains.
We'll be back to Firehouse soon and I'll ask them to make me a Hero. (roast beef, smoked turkey breast, and Virginia honey ham with melted provolone...fully involved.)
Firehouse Subs is HOTT!: Firehouse subs are different from most sub shops. They are mostly all toasted and served hot. The sandwiches are served with plenty of meat. It is not just lettuce, tomatoes, etc to fill the bun. Although there are plenty of those too. I can usually only eat half of a sandwich and I keep the other half for my break at work. The restaurant is down the street from where I work so I am there plenty.
The store I was at, the atmosphere is really cute inside with all the dalmation puppy dots everywhere and the firehouse theme. I can see how kids, especially little boys, would love the place. I think kids get a fireman's hat. It is a little more expensive than subway but you get a lot for your money.
