I am not sure where the other reviwers ate at in NY or NJ. My wife and I went Saturday at 7PM, packed with brisk business. Our first visit and previosuly been to several well known Pizza shops in NY, Italy, and Dallas. So we know a little bit about Pizza. We ordered our drinks. wine selection is limitted but who cares in a good Pizza joint right.. We ordered Paige's specialty Pizza. Unfortunately, they were so busy we ended up waiting 1 and 1/2 hours for the Pizza to show up. Curiously eager for the Pizza we didn't complain. Now the serious part. The Pizza basics: Dough - Totally flat 1/2 inch all around, dry, crunches on a knife, and was unrisen. Reminded me of a good frozen dough you can buy at Whole Foods Market. The topings were so so but overly abundant, still ok for regional style but the basil topping was burnt, crispy, and flaky. First time I have ever seen burnt herb on pizza toping. Taste: they used fresh mozarella so it helped but the rest of the topings were not great by no means. Mind you I am not even telling you about the salad so don't bother ordering it. Most definitely not NY or NY style Pizza. Sorry but by comparison Dewey's is like a gourment french to fast food joint when compared to Aponte's. The waitress noticed we weren't too happy with the food and stepped over to tell us nicely we should either come early or late on Fri/Sat for best quality since they get busy. Wow. We did see stressed out high school kids working on the open kitchen. I think someone needs to invite Gordon Ramsay to come fast. Basics are totally lost here but was probably a good joint at one time. Won't bother going back. Dewey's to the rescue.
Went to visit family in OH and they took us to this pizza place and it was the best pizza ever. The crust was very tastey and not chewy like some places that I've been too. Can they send a slice to TX?! Loved it!
I just had a pizza and an order of garlic beard tonight. I went to go pick it up which turned out to be a mistake. First off they told me on the phone my order would be ready in 20 - 25 mins. I thought that's cool you know for being a Friday night. So when I arrived 23 mins after I called. I was amazed as to how busy it was. I let the lady know at the front I was there. She tells me "oh, its not ready yet, it'll be awhile." So after fifteen minutes I got my pizza. As I was waiting I noticed some things, for one, the place is small so if you end up waiting on your pizza you'll be standing. Another thing, the staff seemed to be a bit unorganized, ticket orders were all over the place. So much unorganized I had to tell them that a pizza that was brought out was a sausage and chicken pizza, my pizza. However, I got home sat down and enjoyed one of the best pizzas I have had in a long time. So I hope that they can work on some of these flaws, cause I hate for them to close down. A common theme in that location, you probably know what I am talking about if you are a native of Mason, Ohio. My recommendations, for one, their pizza, secondly get delivery, get delivery, get delivery.

Dude, I dont know where you ate in NY, but I am a born and bred NY'er lived ther most of my life. My guess is you caught Apontes on a bad night, cuz there Pizza is good and the closest thing you will find to NY pizza anywhere in Ohio. And if you are comparing Deweys to NY Pizza your way way off.....Apontes is good
