OMG! This food is delicious! My husband and I are from Houston and we love a good meal. This was by far one of the better meals that I have had. i frequently visit Tommy Bahama's and Perry's in Houston which are excellent restaurants that this can be comparable to BESIDES THE PRICE! It is inexpensive for the amount of food and the deliciousness of the food. Is that a word? I had the chicken guadalupe and my husband had the balsamic ribeye! My husband practically licked the plate. Mind you ribeyes are fattier meat but that just locked in the flavor of this meal! My food was a chicken breast on top of mashed potatoes with salsa and black bean corn pico and avocadoes on top with melted cheese and tortilla strips! I was in heaven. Besides the great food we over looked the Guadalupe River which was beautiful! I recommend this place to anyone going to gruene or New Braunfels! And make sure to get a drink there they are generous with their portions! :)
The service was very disappointing. When he walked in, the hostesses just stood there and looked at us. We had to actually ask to be seated. The food was just OK. The restaurant was hot. We asked the staff if the ceiling fan above us could be turned on, but it never was. The staff was more worried about accomodating the large groups that came in after us. They even seemed to just stand around our table to make us hurry up and leave so they could add our table to a larger group.
My husband and I took a nice drive to Gruene the labor day weekend. We are new to the area and heard Gruene was a cute town with great shops. After touring around, we heard a couple of ladies who worked in an antique shop telling a customer that the Gruene River Grill was a great place to eat. So hearing this we decided to pop over for lunch. WOW!! We are so glad we did! The most amazing looking restaurant I have seen in a very long time. Beautiful! Unique! Our waiter was very nice and professional. We only ordered soup and a burger, but they were both good (although it did take quite a while for items of that size to finally be delivered).
We will definately be back with a few more couples to have what we hope will be a great dinner. :)
