Saved one night for dinner out while staying nearby at Yogi Bear Jellystone Campground. We ate at Richards in Ellenville and had a most enjoyable evening with excellent food and hosts. The menu was broad and offered a large selection of appetizers and main courses. I had the special - Weiner Schnitzel and it was one of the best I ever had. The ice cream with fresh picked blueberries topped with cream was a perfect ending. The folks there were very accommodative of our young grandchildren who can be challenging at times.
The wine selection was very limited and if you enjoy fine wines, you might ask about bringing your own and paying an un-corking fee. Looking forward to dinning there again when we are in the area.

"Richards" is the best kept secret in N.Y. A small German restaurant tucked in a side road off 209 in Ellenville. Just follow the signs to the Neverly, pass it's main drivewan to the little Country club called "Shawangunk Country Club"
Richard is the owner and chef. The man has traveled the world and has mixed traditional German food with New wave cuisine. Here it is possible to eat your seared Tuna salad with Wasabie sauce, while still being able to amaze your parents with authentic mind blowing German cusine. Not to mention the religious experience of the most perfect rack of lamb that has ever graced a plate. Oh yes, Lets not forget the fact that Richard has delighted every toddler with a childrens menu, that parents dream of.
The best way to truly enjoy Richards culinary delight's, is to call ahead. There is always a table available, but remember this is a small hidaway. If Richard doesn't expect a large crowd, he can't possible have every delectable delight that he is overly cappable of making.
Now we will talk about Richards Mind blowing Deserts. Who in the world goes Hiking in the Mohaunk Moutains to pick wild blueberries for the most outragous home made Parffie"s that has ever crossed a Pallet. Richard also gives out little packets of blueberries to the children. I can't even get into the home made Rubarb concotions that would put any "Iron Chef"to shame.
Richard starts every meal with fresh bread that he has cooked each morning. He also comes out of the kitchen because he loves to see the peoples faces when they experiance his cooking. He delightes his following with engaging stories of his adventures abroad.
