Dr. Tjelmeland performed upper eyelid surgery and a facelift on me over a year ago. I still can't close my eyelids all the way and need expensive eyedrops around the clock. The pain has been terrible due to dry eyes caused by not being able to close my eyelids all the way - especially during the nights when my eyelids would stick to my eyeballs. Also, he cut my lids way above my natural crease line. I don't know what he was thinking when he did this. I will have these nasty scars for the rest of my life. ( If I had it to do over again, I would only let an oculoplastic surgeon near my eyes). In addition, the facelift was a disaster. I ended up paying another surgeon to fix a large indentation on my lower cheek that happened during surgery with Dr. Tjelmeland, and to redo the surgery in front, under and behind my ears. Also, the bruises on my neck were terrible, even though Dr. Tjelmeland used a special scapel that was supposed to reduce bruising. I am also left with prominent blue veins on the right side of my face and neck. It's too scary to think about how that happen. One other note. I was told by Dr. Tjelmeland's patient coordinator that placing the scar inside the ear would cause an unnatural "pulled" look in front of the ear. Do not believe this - the surgeon who re-did the area in front of my ears said he could do this procedure so that it would look natural. Also, there are plenty of surgeons in town who have the expertise to place the scar inside the ear without causing an unnatural pulled look. I wish I had known this before my surgery with Dr. Tjelmeland.
